Why won't my MInecraft connect to servers?

Yesterday my Minecraft stopped wanting to connect to any servers. It was working but I went to connect and it would try to connect then the red words "Can't connect to server" appears under it. I reset the router, restarted my computer, reinstalled Minecraft. None of these fixed it. I logged out and logged back in and that worked. It's the connecting to the server that doesn't work. Can someone help me with this?

Added (1). Shamon, I have the new MacBook Air with 4GB of ram. Not a beast but is the best computer I own. It was connecting to servers two days ago, but yesterday it stopped.

Doctor, would all the servers be down? I tried connecting to my own self-hosted server and it wouldn't do that either.

Trying to create a minecraft server?

Hi I'm trying to make a minecraft server, i have followed the tutorials exactly and yet nobody can join my server when i give them my ip address.

I downloaded the server exe, when the server is running it lets me join on localhost.

I own a belkin router and already put my last ipv4 digit into the private ip address along with the 25565 in the port boxes.

And then I googled what is my ip address, and that is what people are suppose to use to connect right?
But instead it gives them this error:

java.net.connectexception connection refused

Please help! ~___~

Added (1). i don't know if this has anything to do with it, but each time i run ipconfig i almost always get a different ipv4 number for the last digit?

Added (2). yeah umer, I already followed all those steps and yet people can't join and i get that java error

How to find my Minecraft server IP address?

My friend wants to join my world on Minecraft PC. I can't find out where it is. But I think it's something to do that my dad disabled multiplayer (I'm not actually sure if he did or not, but he does a lot, so making an assumption would be safe). This site I visited earlier today was a total troll. Me and my friend both tried it and we got the same thing. Please help soon. And by the way the trolling site was named whatsmyip.org, so don't try it.

Added (1). P.S.: I have a Windows 8 Asus laptop, so I can't necessarily search any programs on my desktop.

How to create a spawn between worlds? (Minecraft)?

I have a bukkit server and I use multiverse and essentials and I want the player to be able to do /spawn and have them teleport to the world I set as the spawn. It just teleports you to another world called "world". How do I change this? I have been working on this server for the last 6 months and it is supposed to be finished by Jan 1.

Others can't join my minecraft bukkit server anymore, why?

I already port forwarded and its been running for a couple of months. Others were able to join without a problem. Now others can't join. I can join though. When others try to join it says "Timed Out"
Any suggestions?

Minecraft: Is this batch file for my server wrong?

For some reason I have to start it in 32bit mode but it a 64bit PC. Is the Java path wrong or something? Does the batch file even work correctly in allocating the RAM?
Batch file:

Why do I get random connection drops on Minecraft servers?

Not fps drops! I get around 50-60 fps.

I'm talking about random drops in connection, like one time I was playing survival and mining. It wouldn't drop any cobble, i couldnt craft anything, etc. Other times i would run around while everyone stood still and none of, my hits would register. It's getting a bit annoying.

Code to disable a minecraft plugin?

I'm currently making a plugin, and I need a little help with it. I want my plugin to be able to disable a plugin in the server's plugin list. Say, I wanted my plugin to disable McMMO on a certain command, how would I do that?

No minecraft servers working?

I have this problem mostly with games not so much the internet though. In minecraft I can still play and everything but when I look at the servers everything is either polling or says "Can't reach server" I ask my friends on skype they say they can connect fine. I know nothing is wrong with the router i have two in my home and i just got a new one yesterday. Also steam isn't quite working I can't log in because it just won't connect. I checked my firewall and it allows steam to use the internet. If anybody help me i will bre so greatful Thank you IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR THREE DAYS NOW!

Added (1). I also have my own server when i run it shows up but when i try to connect it just won't.

Added (2). I'm in 1.7.4 connecting to 1.7.4 servers.
