Minecraft: Always With You In Your Pocket

The computer game Minecraft is not only available on PC, PS3 and Xbox platforms. Since the August of 2011 the game has also been able to be run under Android. The version is called Minecraft Pocket Edition and uses the same concept as elder versions, but there are some differences.

Here players still focus on building their own worlds made of blocks (cubes). Compared to the PC version, worlds are reduced to 256x256 blocks and there is no infinite water at their borders. This sandbox-like realities still harbour such dangers as wild animals, drowning and so on. But you will never die of starvation since there is no hunger bar. Gameplay also changed to adapt to the touchscreen. Players can dispose items by long-tapping icons on the special bar.

Multiplayer mode can be organized in 3 different ways:

  • through Minecraft Realms;
  • through a LAN (up to 10 players per a server);
  • through external servers created by users.

All in all, this is still the same Minecraft with simplifications that stand to reason on account of touchscreen interface peculiarities. But the game doesn’t lack its traditional spirit and completely justifies its 10$ price.
