No minecraft servers working?

I have this problem mostly with games not so much the internet though. In minecraft I can still play and everything but when I look at the servers everything is either polling or says "Can't reach server" I ask my friends on skype they say they can connect fine. I know nothing is wrong with the router i have two in my home and i just got a new one yesterday. Also steam isn't quite working I can't log in because it just won't connect. I checked my firewall and it allows steam to use the internet. If anybody help me i will bre so greatful Thank you IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR THREE DAYS NOW!

Added (1). I also have my own server when i run it shows up but when i try to connect it just won't.

Added (2). I'm in 1.7.4 connecting to 1.7.4 servers.

Added (3). Plus with a premium minecraft account.

Ok there's a problem with your rougher. You are having a problem connecting to the ports in the servers. So I runs. Couple of servers and there can be a couple of problems one it's your rougher, 2 it can be because your minecraft account may not be vaild, and 3 your minecraft update vertion may be different then the servers. Try to find out what update you have and find a server with the same one try to update to the newest minecraft update.
