What directory to run a server from?

I'm trying to set up a minecraft server with bukkit and the instructions says to place the.jar file in the directory you want to run the server from. Which directory is the best place to put it?

Since advertising on most Minecraft Servers is against the rules, I'm looking for some people to become a core part of my upcoming Bukkit Minecraft Server. I started a minecraft server in the library of my university and i can't seem to join my server from my dorm (which is on a separate Wi-Fi.) Can i only play on the server from the library's Wi-Fi?

I'm starting a server on minecraft and i need someone thats good with mostly permissions and stuff. I'm looking for someone who can be trusted and is just looking for something to do. I don't want someone who is to high strung. But someone that will get the job done. Any age is welcome but i would rather between the age of 12-16 younger is welcome as long as you can be mature.

You're probably right. I just looked at it again and they are actually different domain names.

What's wrong with my Minecraft?

Whenever I pick up items and blocks from 1.7 and up I get this

:( I updated all my drivers, Java.etc. And this never happened before.
I tried to reinstall and it still does this.

I'm using Win XP.

Added (1). I have tried using 1.7.4 and it still gets the same results.
I tried uninstalling and installing and it's still the same.
But it does work perfectly fine in 1.6.4 which I've been using. My friends wants to play 1.7.4 on their server and I'm the only one who can't. And since it has a lot of new blocks and menu features I'm very jelly haha.

I will keep trying though.

Where can I get 21-bit java?

I keep getting kicked on minecraft servers and it says something like "error: java larger than 21-bit" or something else. Anyone know where to get 21-bit instead of 24-bit?
