What plugins to use for a new Minecraft server spawn?

Searched high and low for a minecraft server to play, but none that I found did I like, so I decided to create my own. Nothing fancy or big, but a simple server for me, my friends, and a few others to play on.

I'm in the process of creating the server spawning area, and I'd like to know how to do a few things.

1. How to make the radius of the spawn area wider?
2. How to make a "You are now leaving the spawn" message?
3. How to enable the usage of lift signs/plates/buttons?

Also if you can give me any tips on beginning my own server and what plugins/settings to use, that would be a great plus!

What will it take for people to join my minecraft server?

I have no real way of spreading awareness other than JOIN MY SERVER @ 76.180.129.253:25565 here or get rank #3999 on a minecraft server listing site where nobody will see u.

Added (1). forgot to say it is a survival server with a small roleplay twist with there being the story of when you join you are just coming out of coma from the wreck but after that what you do is completeley up to you, want a stack of diamonds, just ask, i have a TON that were found in the plane

Added (2). one more thing i know it works because my friend was successfully able to join and he lives towards the edge of my town and i live in the middle.

A really good Minecraft server?

I'm looking for a really nice, semi-popular, friendly, modded survival MC server. I had one a while ago, but my hard drive crashed and I don't remember the name or IP. I want one that is well established, and built, maybe different realms, with a friendly niche community. ( Preferably without Factions )
If anybody knows of any I would like to know. I know it's a lot of specifications, but maybe there's one.

Why won't my Minecraft server connect? 1.7.4?

I made a server by watching a video and followed the steps exactly, but when i went to play it, it said "Can't connect to server" I checked the ip, and it was fine. I also tried it with.jar, and that did not work either. Also I have a windows 7. What is wrong with it?

Ender Dragons Keep Spawning?

Hey -- so in my minecraft world, my friend thought it would be funny to spawn a bunch of enderdragons, and when i joined the server I would be in for a surprise. Well, I saw a bunch of dragons and did the /killall and /butcher command. They all disappeared, which is good. But whenever I save the world and join back, the dragons aren't there but they start respawning. And there are like 100's of them, and I don't know what to do. I worked hard on the server.

Problems with Tekkit server?

Yesterday I made my tekkit server. My port has been forwarded and the ip to the server is my ip so I know it works. Also, a few of the thing i put in the server properties i noticed actually happened. So my server is fine and all but for some reason my friends are having connection problems. They keep getting connection timeout or end of stream. But one of my friends has a minecraft server so he might be able to help me. Any help?

Where can I advertise my minecraft server?

I admin on my cousins' minecraft server and we're looking to get a few more players. Here are the details of the server:
*Five friendly and helpful admins, at least one of us is on most of the time.
*Survival server
*Creative building world coming soon (plotme)
*Minigames world with versions of popular and brand new minigames, such as rainbow jump, jousting, survival games, sleef, coming soon!
*Fully protected spawn.
*Many, many plugins, including world edit, core protect, timber, set home, warps, ect.
*Experienced builders who are constantly working to make the server look better and better.
*Friendly players so far.
*Free items giveaways once in a while.
*Overall good community, we all end up making friends with each other and it's kind of like a giant minecraft family. We talk about a lot and include everyone in fun conversations and make everyone feel welcome.
