Something wrong with setting up Bukkit server for Minecraft?

So I'm trying to set up a Bukkit server for Minecraft so I can use some plugins for world edit but it's not working properly. I've downloaded the server and I put it into a new folder and make a new text document and put the server code in it and save it as a.bat file. After I do that and go to open the.bat it'll open but then close out of the.bat file immediately. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix this?

ATI 3000 Series Driver, what the heck is going on and why and what and how?

I can't even find out exactly what the integrated graphics are, but its an ATI Radeon 3000 series. I installed windows 7, it worked fine. I installed windows server 2012, and i was stuck with the basic display driver from microsoft. Catalyst said that its up to date? I got a manual driver from a mysterious website, and it worked. I got windows 8.1 now, same catalyst problem, but my computer says it has the "ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics (Microsoft Corperation - WDDM v1.1)" driver.

Why does it say MS Corp? And minecraft says that it can't find an accellerated open GL mode. This occurs with the basic MS Display driver, which is why i updated the last time.

So, why will it not work? And is there any manual download for the drivers? Because this automatic BS is automaticly not working.

Added (1). I would understand that it doesn't work in windows 8, but it works on Server 2012… Which not only is based off 8, but you would think that if anything wasn't compatible with a game or graphics, t would be the server edition.

Added (2). Additional Details:
It is a custom built computer.

My server won't run on new java?

I upgraded my java version to 7 51 or something like that, anyway now that I have upgraded it, I can't run my servers; I just get this message in the command prompt: "C:\Users\Sean\Desktop\ServersNULLew folder>java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.1.7.4.jar
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

But before I upgraded I didn't get this message and it worked fine!

Please can someone tell me what I need to write or if I need to downgrade it? I would prefer not to degrade it though…

NOTE: I'm using the.jar version as the writing doesn't appear in the.exe file. This as recommended by someone on youtube and to uses the command code that I used, that DID WORK BEFORE.

Good Minecraft Server Names? (Towny/Ranks)?

This will be a towny, minigames and creative server, and it will have ranks, so I kind of want a name that I could have ranks with
For instance MonarchCraft - With Monarchy ranks etc.

My Minecraft server will not work?

I'm trying to host a Minecraft server (current version is 1.7.4) for me and my friend to play. I believe I have done everything necessary in order to host one, but he still can't join.
I downloaded minecraft_server.jar from minecraft.net and made a.bat file with this code:

@echo off
java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar gui
pause

so that I can run it with 1GB, and I got that part to work (after going through lots of trouble and errors).

Next, I did ipconfig and I got my IPv4 address, default gateway, and all of that good stuff. I typed the default gateway into URL to go into my router, which is 10.0.0.1, to port forward.
(Arris router, model # TG862G-CT) and I made it port forward. I used the 25565 port for the start and end ports, entered my IPv4 address into the IP (public IP didn't work), and made it TCP/UDP.

After all of that, I was able to join my server by joining my IPv4 IP, although my friend could not. I tried many different types of methods, such as trying to use my public IP (from ipchicken) but that one did not work but neither of us. I also tried going into the server properties and entering different IPs, like my IPv4 and public IP, but my friend could still not join, even with firewall turned off. (also, I was only able to join localhost when I had no IP entered in the server settings)

I also tried making a static IP by going into my adapter settings, by entering my DNS servers and my IPv4, but that did not work. I then tried making the static IP my public IP, but then I lose my internet connection to my router.

Not sure what else it could be, so this is my last resort. If anyone has an idea, then feel free to suggest it, thanks.

Added (1). I also have Windows 8

Added (2). And the IP from ipchicken never works. I can't join it myself, with whatever combination of settings I do.

Maybe it is just my router being lame? It is a router and a modem built in one.

Suggestions for a website?

Hi, I'm wondering if I could get any suggestions from people.

Basically, I have a group of friends, and we all play Minecraft together. We've decided to turn our 'group' into a community and allow others to join our server and community.

So what I'm after is decent website/forum software that isn't too complicated to set-up and configure.

So far I've been playing about with Xenforo, and I really like it.
However, I find it extremely complicated and it's going to take me months of tinkering before I feel I'm comfortable with it.

So I'm looking for something that's nice, not too complicated, configurable and ideally free.

Any thoughts/suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks.

Added (1). Thanks Joe, but I don't think your read the full question, haha.
I already know what it's going to be about.
I'm looking specifically for software I could use. Not content.
