What is a good gaming laptop? - 1

I'm looking to upgrade from my current laptop (a 2010 Dell Studio 15). I play video games quite a bit, so something that will run current generation (and, preferable, some way beyond) games. I'm quite computer literate, but not really educated in terms of hardware, so I don't really know exactly what to look for.

I'm looking, really, for a laptop that strikes a balance between performance and price. I'm not really talking ultra high-end - I'm not interested in a lot of the most resource-intensive games like CoD, Crysis, Far Cry (that is to say, big action games). I'm most interested in RTS games and RPGs. Examples of some games I can't run but would like to:

SimCity (2013)
Skyrim
A heavily modded Minecraft (with shaders)
Banished

Also, the reasons I'm asking about laptops rather than desktop PCs or tablets: I don't have room in my current apartment for a desktop and I'm a university student, so I need something with a good keyboard (ie: not a tablet) with which to write essays.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to PM me. Also please remember to keep the suggestions reasonable in terms of price.

Will this desktop run The Sims 3?

I need a laptop to be able to use for college work, photoshop and the sims 3 and minecraft. However people have suggested that a desktop is better and I found this one…

Is it any good?

Good gaming laptop under $600-$800?

I'm looking for a good gaming laptop with at least a i5 CORE CPU with 2.5-3 GHz, like the 4300M. That can run Battlefield 4 at lowest settings and can run FIFA 14 and Minecraft at Max settings, I would like a laptop without any AMD anything… I HATE AMD. And has 6-8 GB RAM. And at least a GTX 660M GPU with 2 GB

My cus plays Battlefield 4 at high settings with the same specs but a i7 CORE CPU.

Bored gamer looking for suggestions?

I'm a PC gamer and I've recently been extremely bored as I'm kinda over the games I usually play (minecraft, runescape, etc) and that hasn't been helped by the fact that has taken a holiday. (I understand why and fully support it) most of the games on his channel are my kind of game and I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a (preferably big) game I can play to fill the void of the next few weeks. (I also tend to hang out on /r/incrementalgames if that opens any doors)

What happens when a popular Streamer on Twitch changes games?

I've always wanted to become a streamer but one of the things that has kept me from pursuing it is the thought of losing all your hard earned viewers when you change games. Here's an example of what I mean:

You work for 2 or so years attempting to become a big time streamer for the game League of Legends, which is one of the more popular games on Twitch. You succeed, but at this point you've already been playing the game for 2 years or more, plus any previous experience with the game. You successfully stream League of Legends for another year or two and begin to become bored of the game, what happens when you change to another game? Say Minecraft or something? I'm worried that all your viewers will leave your stream because you're no longer streaming the content they originally watched you for. If that is the case, you may be back down to only a few viewers or so (maybe from 5-10k to 500-1k?) and you'll be forced to go another 2 years or so to get back to where you where. (Potentially more as Minecraft doesn't seem to be as popular League of Legends.)

Maybe I'm over-thinking things and perhaps people will stay by you for your content regardless. Either way, I'd like to see what everyone else thinks on this subject.

Added (1). P.S: I'm just kinda realizing how bad I sounded in the first little line: "All your hard earned viewers." I don't think of them that way of course, but I think you guys get the idea. ^.^

How to make videos of you playing games on the computer?

I've seen on YouTube lots of videos that people make from their computer screen. For example, videos posted about people playing Minecraft. I'm just wondering how you do that? Because I want to make some of them videos too.
