Minecraft keeps running out of memory?

So I've spent the past few hours trying to run a 256x256 texture pack for minecraft ( http://www.planetminecraft.com/...ture-pack/ ). I've looked all over the web trying to find an answer but no matter what I do the second i turn the texture pack on in the settings minecraft crashes and gives an error report about running out of memory. I've ran MCPatcher already. My computer has 8gb of ram and i've been trying to allocate 4gb to minecraft but it still won't run, I've even tried raising it to 6gb but no luck. I know it can't be my graphics card because I've just replaced it with a high-end nvidia geforce GTX 760 so i could play skyrim with decked out graphics. I've also tried allocating more ram to java after reading multiple solutions online but that did not help either. I'm pretty sure my Minecraft is running off of 64bit java though i have no way to be sure since i have both version on my computer. I was wondering if anybody could help fix this problem before i give up on this texture pack and try a few others. Here are a few pictures of my attempted solutions and crash report.

What is a good medieval mmorpg like runescape classic?

Ok i'm a former runescape player who went alot broader. Started to play minecraft dota 2 tf2 skyrim and others. And well i miss runescape classic. I however do not want to go to runescape because of eoc 2 years ago. So i want to try and see what good medieval mmorpgs like runescape there are. Do you know of any?

A texture Pack Fo' Minecraft?

I'm looking for a good texture pack for 1.7.2 that is like faithful but changes the Lapis lazuli into pool like block. That makes Lapiz lazuli useful.

Minecraft: Thaumcraft 4.1?

This might not be the right place to ask this, but I thought I would try. Inside of my thaumonomicon the Thaumium Wand Caps is still gray and says " Missing research required! " Also the Silverwood Wand Cores is gray and says the same thing also. I already have the Gold Banded Greatwood Wand, and need to get a stronger wand for node bottling. Am I doing something wrong? If so please tell me. Do I need to do more stuff with the crucible? If so what do I need to do?!

Like minecraft, got Windows 8, broke. Suggestions?

Well, not BROKE broke but I'm saving money for something big so I can't afford unimportant stuff… ANYWAY, a friend showed me Minecraft and I really like it and want to play something like it on my computer but I can't afford to get the real deal. I've heard of a lot of spinoffs and stuff that's made to imitate it, and I've seen demos of some that seem really good, but which one do I want… Are there any good ones that are designed for the Win8 tile interface? And how about with the interactivity and monsters and stuff? That's pretty much all I'm looking for, aside from it being free or really cheap.

Do you think they'll fix the dayz lag?

I play on a laptop me. I had been told that if minecraft ran fine then dayz should. This was something I read on YouTube. Minecraft on my laptop gets 35 fps. But dayz gets like 10-15, I've tried everything to make the fps go higher, but it won't. I'm regretting spending 30$ bucks, but i know it's only in alpha. Do you think they'll fix the lag once they add more to the game and update and fix all the bugs?
