Can't access any server based program or game?

For some reason I can't play any games that connect to a server (except for Minecraft for some reason). I can't connect to Steam, Origin, or Hamachi since they all need to connect to a server. I'm sure that it isn't a problem with my router, because I have used 2 different routers to test this and I still can't access any servers. My Internet work's fine. I have even gotten one of my more tech savvy friends to help and he couldn't figure it out either.

How much data does Minecraft multiplayer take up?

Okay so i'm going to my dads this weekend and i just got my laptop back and i was wonder how much date minecraft multiplayer takes up. I'm on a server that has an average of 300-400 users and i have a 4GB data cap. We plan on getting unlimited soon but for now this it. I'm using a verizon hotspot and last time i was there i played clash of calns and that took up a total of 2 MB by the time i was done

Why does my Minecraft look like an oil painting?

I turned down the volume on Minecraft and then set the brightness to 25% and then this happened! I thought it would have something to do with the changes i made, so i went back and put them back to how they originally were, with no improvement to my screen display. The animals are still moving, the sky still changes but I can't play like this as it changes the shape of things and confuses me, as you can see, the mountains in the background appear to be full of holes when they actually are not. I tried going on a server, refreshing mc, restarting and resetting with nothing changing each time! Please help, i really love minecraft and id hate to not be able to play! Does anyone own a small vanilla mc server that i could join?

I enjoy playing minecraft but I haven't found any good servers that I could join and play. I've got a server but it doesn't work to well, it slows down my internet (drastically) and I don't have any friends to join. What I'm really looking for is a server that's up most of the time and one that has a nice community.
