Is this graphics card good enough, and if not how much dedicated memory do I need?

I recently decided to try to get into PC gaming before I go off to college. The problem is the one thing I never bothered to learn about computers was how graphics cards work. The only things I know about graphics cards are: on board graphics are awful, NVIDIA makes the best of the best graphics cards, and more dedicated memory is better.

The laptop I'm looking at has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 735M graphics card (2GB dedicated graphics I believe).

Games I would possibly play on it are:
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
- World of Warcraft
- Minecraft
- Starcraft
- Guild Wars 2
- Elder Scrolls Online
- Zoo Tycoon
- Roller Coaster Tycoon

Also I'd like to have the option to play newer higher budget games like Watch Dogs. Would I be able to play games like that or just the ones listed above?

If you want to be Really nice you could also give a brief explanation of how graphics cards work and what's important in one and what isn't, but that isn't necessary.

Getting a New laptop, will it work for gaming?

Hey guy I needed a new laptop fast (I have a youtube channel to run and not much money atm) so i'm going by rent a center to pick up a new alienware 14. Specs:
4th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-4210M processor 2.6 ghz (3MB Cache, up to 3.2GHz) Dual Core
8GB DDR3L at 1600MHz (2 x 4G)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB GDDR5

I know its not great but I was wondering if itd be able to play like… Skyrim on medium-high settings on 30 fps or better or like… I dunno i intend to play amnesia, 7 days to die, minecraft, WoW, black ops 2 and I wanna be able to at least play them on medium settings if not high.

It isn't fantastic I know, but I can't afford to buy one outright and thanks to my moms cell phone and lack of bill paying my credit is **** so I can't do anything that involves a good or even decent credit score.

Good screen recording programs for windows 8?

I do gaming videos on YouTube and recently updated to a windows 8.1 computer. And i'm having some issues finding a program that works well, with things like minecraft. I have tried ezvid but there was issues with processing the videos. It doesn't need to record microphone or web cam since i edit that stuff in myself but i need it to be able to format the files to avi or such to be able to edit it in windows movie maker. I would prefer it to be free or at least have a free trial so i can test it out.

Why do my games suddenly lag?

So I'm just playing a game on my laptop on medium settings and it runs smoothly with no lag or anything since I've got my NVIDIA settings to better performance than quality, but after a minute of playing a game (Outlast, Tribes Ascend, Team Fortress, Saints Row IV, etc.) I get a black bar appear for a millisecond and then every goes… Laggy. I'd say something like 10fps and also, once I move my mouse to the right, in the game, I look to the right a second afterwards._. So response time has also been reduced. And the same happens on lower settings. The only games that don't do this are games such as Minecraft and those old Dawn of War games.

Now, the black thingy isn't a screen but more like a thick line that appears in the center of the screen. I didn't get this before, but now all of a sudden I'm getting it on almost every game. Yeah I can still play but I can't engage in team fights, combat of any sort and that stuff. Even when I press W to move forward it starts moving a second later.

Do you guys have ANY idea how could I solve this?
