Why can't I break blocks in minecraft?

So I was playing single player, and my game crashed, which happens kinda often. But this time, when I restart the game, my world isn't there. So I make a copy of my world (cuz it will still in my "save" file) and move the copy to my desktop and delete the file in my "save" folder. Then, I create a new world with the same exact name as my old world, then replace the copy of my world in that new world's save folder. Luckily, this works and all my stuff and the entire world is back. But, now I find out that I can't break or place blocks anymore, but when I open to LAN and go to gamemode 1, I can still break and place them (but not gamemode 2).

I'm very confused and frustrated, so if someone could help me, that'd be greatly appreciated.

What's the most terrifying fictional universe to live in?

I want to hear what people think are the most terrifying fictional universes to live in. You could list more than one, but not too many, just enough to make the universes seem special in a terrifying way.

Here's a few I think are totally terrifying:

Oddworld
Attack on Titan
Godzilla
Wall-e(because some machines apparently have a lack of morality and there's a fan theory giving evidence about why Wall-e may be a serial killer robot)
Terminator
Minecraft
Star Wars (Next thing ya know, BOOM! Your home planet's gone)
Scooby Doo (Fan theory suggests a horrible economy where intellectuals are usually in the poor class)

So many to choose, and I don't care if you choose some of the ones I mentioned, but it would be great if you named others. Also, why do you think the universe that's the most terrifying is the most terrifying?

I found a rail in minecraft, is there an abandoned mineshaft nearby?

I was wandering around a forest and saw a dropped rail. I didn't drop it because i don't think i've ever been to this part of the world. Also i've never even found a rail before, i've never even made one. So i know its not mine.
and i'm playing on single player.
so i don't think some other player could have dropped it.

but anyways does this mean there's an abandoned mineshaft nearby?

Best $700 prebuilt gaming pc?

First off, yes i know, its cheaper to build your own pc blah blah blah. No i'm not going to spend $700 on parts without having some sort of experience with it and then accidently break it or have it not working at all. I play games such as League of Legends, Minecraft, Payday 2, L4D2, Spec Ops: The Line. I know they might not be intensive games that require a lot of power, but i'm looking to prepare myself for future games that come out, so I could at least play it. Please suggest as much as you can. Criticizm for my disability to build a pc are ignored and you can go to another question.
