Why are all the good gaming consoles making people pay to play online?

I play on xbox and I feel that there's no need to make people pay to play online. Where is the sense for having somebody pay like $50.00 for a game, then have that person pay another $60.00 for the online feature. It's dumb.
And worst of all, other consoles are doing it too! But you kinda have to pay because games are just not fun without online features. Like come on, even MINECRAFT is boring without the online servers. They should make it free, or atleast cheaper. You know that feeling when you go to play overwatch, and out of nowhere, uh-oh! Your gold membership ran out! And boom the game is unplayable until you get a new one. This. Is. Why. I. Am. Done. With. Xbox.

Minecraft world recovery?

I put my xbox 360 profile on a flash drive and left my worlds on the console. I accidentally formatted the flash drive, and my worlds are now registered to "unknown profile". It says copying or moving will register it to your profile, so I used someone else's. After clicking copy AND move, both returning the "this item can't switch profiles" error I'm very upset.
