Should I Get Minecraft Pocket Edition For My Android Or iPod?

I have an Android Note II and I also have an iPod Touch Generation 4. I always have my phone with me, and I only have my iPod at home. I'm just kind of iffy on getting it for my phone because I don't want the battery to drain quick, nor do I want it to take up a lot of storage. However I'm scared of getting it on my iPod because it may lag… A LOT! Any information is helpful, and leave what you think I should do! Thanks.

Oh and one more thing: If you know a free version or knock off version of Minecraft, let me know too!

I have an android tablet, its a nextbook. My friends were able to but I can't find a good way to download it. I don't have a laptop so i need a link where I can download it from chrome on my tablet, thanks a lot!
