Minecraft won't launch, pop up error says can't update native launcher?

We're trying to launch Minecraft from a macOS 10.11.6 (el capitan) on an iMac. When we do this, it tries to load but pops up with a message saying it can't update native launcher. We have played Minecraft perfectly fine up until this point, within the past 48 hours without any issues. There were no obvious Mac updates and my launcher on my PC laptop is working perfectly fine still. We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft several times. Rebooted the computer. No AV active and firewall is disabled. We uninstalled and reinstalled java as well. We're at a loss, please help?

Is there anyway to edit text in the middle of a sentence without deleting the whole sentence? On a computer you press the arrow keys but on minecraft pocket edition there's no way i can find to do it. Sorry if this is confusing any help is appreciated

Minecraft nametag not working?

In minecraft. I put the nametag in a anvil named it "sparky" and I took it out looked toward the wolf and pressed the nametag and it did not work. Why is this? The wolf is tamed.

Another player and I have been building a world together, but it's my world I just invite her in. Since it's not her world she can't play unless I'm there. Is there a way to fix this so that it's a world we both have, and we can both play if each other aren't in the world?

When you make a legit world and join with the toolbox does it remove the ability to get achievements and does it do that if you join a friends world with it?
