Minecraft invisible blocks problem?

I spawn into a newly created world and I fall on invisbile blocks, they are destructible but there are no textures. As you can see it appears as I'm stuck in the sky. This happens every time I create a new world, no matter the combination of world or graphics settings…
I'm using version 1.7.4 and have tried others that also do this…

My setup:
xfx r7970 blackedition
i7 3770k @ 4.7ghz
8gb Team Vulcan 1600 ddr3

Any help would be muchly appreciated, and please check back for updates

Added (1). Hey Kevin, thanks for the answer, but re-installing minecraft did not work. I have tried reinstalling from the download at the Mojang website about 8 times, and deleting data files… All to no avail. If you could provide step by step instructions of what else to try, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot.

What is the best mobile gaming laptop?

I was looking at a very good laptop for traveling and playing games. I don't do a bunch of gaming i play skyrim and dota 2 mostly or whatever cheap games i pick up on steam but the biggest thing is that i can have a mobile entertainment machine i guess for movies netflix gaming and something i can bring to school or work or play minecraft on lan at my friends house would this laptop be good? http://www.amazon.com/...00EON4OH4/

Why is the texture pack not showing up in the minecraft menu?

A while back I downloaded a texturepack and the mcpatcher. It worked really well. No problem… Well now I downloaded a different texturepack, did everything I did with the first one and it won't show up in the menu where you go to change it. Yes, everything is right… It's zip and everything… It's exactly how the first one is… The difference is, it's just not showing up… Making the zip into a file doesn't help either… I have 1.7.4 version… It's exactly like the first one. I don't know why it's doing this

Added (1). @East yes, Like I said. I did exactly how I did the first one. It works and this one doesn't… Is it possible that it just could be the texture pack?

I had tried to re-download my Java, but that didn't work. I get the command prompt thing for not even a second then it goes away. The Forge Installer doesn't even pop up.

So I'm planning on buying Minecraft Premium but I need a Mojang account, But I don't want to loose my old account. I can't migrate my minecraft account to my mojang account because I didn't have premium, so does that mean If I want to play minecraft premium, I need to ditch my old account and use a Mojang account?
