When I download Minecraft, why does it only download the launcher?

Recently i uninstalled minecraft from my computer because it wouldn't download an update so i uninstalled it and went back to re-install it but only downloaded a launcher version instead of installing onto my computer. How do I get it to re-install?

I'm getting lag in games when I shouldn't be?

Lately I have been having FPS and lag problems in games, specifically non-demanding games. These games include: GTA San Andreas, No More Room in Hell, Counter Strike Global Offensive, Farcry 2, Minecraft, Skyrim, and a slightly more demanding game; Contagion. I'll include a list below showing specific problems in these games, but first I'll list my computer specifications. BTW: All my drivers are up to date.

Windows 7 64 bit
8gb Ram
Nvidea Geforce GT 640 2gb DDR3
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 ghz

GTA San Andreas - All max settings, I get around 70-120 fps average, but I get mouse lag in specific areas on the map
No More Room in Hell - All max, slight stuttering and sometimes mouse lag
CS: GO - All Medium settings, I get usually a constant 60 fps, but when I put it on high/max settings, my fps drops drastically and I get mouse lag(I pass recommended requirements?)
Farcry2 - All medium/high settings, I get mouse lag and fps issues, usually only about 30-35 fps on average, and mouse lag in MANY places on the map (usually the merc camps and whatnot)
Minecraft - All normal settings, major stuttering issues when sprinting, fps issues, I usually get about 50-60 fps on average but it does drop often (mostly when sprinting)
Skyrim - All medium/high settings, about 30-40 fps average, some mouse lag, some stuttering
Contagion - All medium/high settings, low fps, stuttering

I'm wondering why I can't max out all these games, and is there a way to fix the lag issues?

Added (1). Is there a way to fix the lag issues without lowering my settings, is what I mean lol. I mean, I don't care TOO much about how the game looks, as long as it looks good I'll be happy haha. I know that the graphics don't make a game good, the gameplay does. But I pass the recommended requirements for all these games, I should be able to run them on all max settings with a 1440x900 resolution, right?

Want to upgrade laptops RAM for MineCraft?

Well my laptop currently has 4GBs of RAM, but i want more, would a 64GB RAM card work with my laptop? I have a samsung laptop,
Processor: Intel core i5-3230m CPU @ 2.60Hz
Installed memory (RAM):4.00 GB (3.88usable)
System Type: 64-bit operating system, 64x based processor
So could i install a 64 GB RAM card or is that too much? Or should i get less? And i'm mostly going to play minecraft, and i'm using all 4GBs on minecraft currently but my minecraft is just a bit slow so i want to upgrade, and where could i buy a RAM card?

Added (1). Oh and it says in my system info that the processor: Intel(R) core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60 Hz 2.60 GHz
why does it say "2.60 Hz" and "2.60GHz"?

Problem getting Minecraft to run?

Okay, so after having to wipe my entire computer and start over thanks to a virus, I've had to re-install everything, including my drivers. Now, I've got everything installed, and I downloaded Minecraft, but it won't let me run it! Previously, it ran great and I could put it on full render distance and experience no lag at all. Anyway, after I login and hit Play, it takes me to an error message saying: "We're sorry, but there seems there was an error while trying to render aspects of the game. To solve this error, it is recommended that you update your graphics drivers."
I currently have AMD Radeon HD 6520G and it says it is up to date when I try to update it. What gives?

Would like: character creation, survival type stuff, open world, lots of freedom, choices with consequences, very engaging, very high replay value, etc etc. I haven't found a game yet t top skyrim or new vegas and find myself continuously game hopping from skyrim new vegas and minecraft. Out of farcry 3, lotr war in the north and dragons dogma which is the best and why

How to make a second minecraft without buying it again?

I share a minecraft with my brother. He bought the game and it's on the family computer. I'm getting tired of going on my brothers account with a name that doesn't fit me. Is anyone sure of a way that I don't have to buy minecraft? And I need a full membership, not that demo stuff and all.
