Is there any way I can get a different version in MC?

I'm trying to download a mod that requires 1.7.4 version for Minecraft. The only version I have is 1.7.2. It there some way to bypass this? To where can I get 1.7.4?

Best way to stop lag in minecraft?

I recently downloaded a new minecraft mod called the Yogscast complete pack but it is lagging out like crazy. I tried searching for viruses and found that I had none. I also tried cleaning the registry, defragmenting my hard disk, and deleting all temporary files but nothing is working. I also changed the video settings in the game to the best/fastest ones but the game still just lags to the point where I can't play because I can barely move. I'm stumped because my other mods (tekkit, voltz, etc) work fine but this one is horrible. I've been waiting months to play this mod and i'm totally lost with what to do.

Hi, I'm going to purchase a MackBook pro 13 inch with 4gb or ram. I was wondering if it would be able to run Minecraft smoothly. I love having texture packs and some mods and playing on servers with friends and hunger games. So I was wondering if it would run without much lag.

So I went to my cousins house last week and we decided to play minecraft. But on his computer he had two of the coolest mods I've ever seen. Mod 1) At night it doesn't spawn any enemies except zombies, but the catch is it literally spawns like 50 times the normal amount of them. I looked out the window of his two story house and it was completely surrounded by zombies! Mod 2) This mod was pretty cool because the whole map was one giant village. So if anyone knows what i talking about, please provide me with a link.

Why is there no fire effect on the torches in minecraft?

The little fire glow over the torches is no longer there maybe it's the mods? I have about 13, and every time I throw potion it goes straight trough the ground and again no swirl effect, just to let you know i believe my minecraft is a cracked version if it helps you answer my question little help please?

Alienware 14 or MackBook Pro Retina?

I'm looking to buy a new laptop. I was going to buy the Alienware 14 but I noticed that it was only a i5 and it's not full 1080p I don't wanna play a extra couple hundred to get it in 1080p. I was thinking about getting a MackBook Pro. I'm not sure what laptop to get I want it to be able to handle Minecraft with mods and any server. Without much lag. So would you guys prefer a Alienware or a MackBook Pro, or any other laptops you guys would recommend. Thanks! And I know a bunch of you are going to say there both over priced and not that great specs so what Laptop would you recommend?!

Ars Magica Minecraft Mod, I can't find any towers?

I can find normal villages but I can't find a tower anywhere. I've searched for hours. Generated structures are on. What's the issue? Everybody else can find towers.
