I want the bare minimum to be able to record music (with m-audio), record video games on xbox with (elgato), and preferable have a couple of a games like gmod, or minecraft. Is this too much for an air?
Macbook pro or Macbook air?

You can do all of that on a macbook pro/air. The difference is the macbook pro has a cd port, and more ports in general, but the macbook air is extremely light, you can hold it in the palm of your hand! They both have the same performance. Minecraft will probably run at 30-40 frames on normal and gmod shouldn't lag that much.
