How to use minecraft snapshots?

I went to use the latest snapshot so I can play with the new blocks and what not. After playing on single player for a couple of hours (with the new snapshot) I went to play on a multiplayer server. When I went to click on the server it said it was outdated and need version 1.7.4 so I went back to the menu and clicked on 1.7.4. After that I was able to play on the sever and everything was okay. But then when I went back to my single player world all the items that I collected was gone. What happen? How do i play single player with the latest 'snapshots' and play on the 1.7.4 server?

Any experienced Minecraft builders out there?

I'm a co-owner on a 1.7.9 hub server looking for some experienced builders to become a part of our team. We have a deadline to meet by the end of this month, (June), thus it would be preferable if some avid, active builders could join and help us out. As we're in the construction stage, there's a lot of work that needs to be done!
We're a mature server, however, so ignorance and foolishness will not be tolerated.

Help on hosting modded minecraft server?

I'm really sorry if this is any trouble to anyone here, and i'm sorry if i sound dumb,
but i'm hoping on creating a modded multiplayer server for a couple of my friends and i to play on, we will probably be covering crazy craft, and a lot of handpicked mods, all 1.6.4.
and weve been looking at using mcprohosting, i know, it may not be the best choice.
but i'm just wondering, does prohosting allow people to pick mods and modpacks, and add them to their server?
also, my friends are a little scared of installing mods, (i don't know why) so i'm just also wondering if it is possible to have the server so that they don't have to install the mods? Again, i'm sorry if this is any trouble, and if it can't auto install them for them, i could always go over and install the mods for them, thanks!

Synology DMS 5: Can i host a bukkit server?

My friend have a Synology server in his basement and I thought it could be cool to host a minecraft server on that. I use a web server my self to host websites but a web server does'nt have ram so i need to use the synology. Is there a way to configure the server to host a bukkit server?

How to fix a chunk error on my minecraft server?

I have a server running of 1.7.2 and a few weeks ago it just crashed. From that point on anytime players flew to close to the spawn no matter where at in the spawn area. The server stopped rendering, commands quit working, and it would crash. The only way to be able to log back in is to delete all temporary data and re op yourself and fly back. I have exhausted all of my resources in trying to fix this and i'm giving up. Does anyone know how to fix this or salvage my spawn? I will do anything it takes to have this server back. I appreciate any help, many thanks
