Help on hosting modded minecraft server?

I'm really sorry if this is any trouble to anyone here, and i'm sorry if i sound dumb,
but i'm hoping on creating a modded multiplayer server for a couple of my friends and i to play on, we will probably be covering crazy craft, and a lot of handpicked mods, all 1.6.4.
and weve been looking at using mcprohosting, i know, it may not be the best choice.
but i'm just wondering, does prohosting allow people to pick mods and modpacks, and add them to their server?
also, my friends are a little scared of installing mods, (i don't know why) so i'm just also wondering if it is possible to have the server so that they don't have to install the mods? Again, i'm sorry if this is any trouble, and if it can't auto install them for them, i could always go over and install the mods for them, thanks!

Shame on you! Don't hack minecraft, try playing the game for once

@yop Modding minecraft IS NOT hacking, silly.

Now as for your question: I would differ to say that whenever you chose to make a modded server, IT IS HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED TO HOST THROUGH A PROVIDER. Why? There's a few reasons. One, Its tedious as all hell to generally "mod" these types of servers. The second reason is that host generally aren't used to supplying the amount of RAM needed for something like that. For example, lets say you have 5 people including you who want to be on this server. For it to go to optimal settings, you would have to probably bump up to a plan that would generally hold 15 people or 20 people because of the ram usage.

You said it's just your friends, correct? Why not attempt to make your own server for free or use Hamachi? These are both generally easy and okay ways of setting up a server unless you have a for **** computer (in the case of you hosting it) or bad internet (mainly in the realm of hamachi.) These are both safe alternatives. You should only need to invest about 1-2gb of ram into these servers.

And sadly, no, you Can't make a server that downloads the required stuffs. The only thing you could do is send them the MC Forge installer and then send them the mods and config folder to paste into their.minecraft folder.
