Is the Web Development Industry growing and is it worth going for in my situation?

I'm 17 years old and going into my senior year in high school. And am really into technology and coding. I became familiar into coding when I was younger fooling around with Minecraft servers and stuff and have been interested in it ever since. I'm interested in coding, and would like to start with web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc). So if someone could help me answer these questions below thank you:

1) Is the web development industry growing and something worthwhile to peruse and be a part of (can I make a career out of it)

2) Do I need to attend a university and get a degree to get a job, or is it smarter to take online courses from websites such as Udacity and Udemy and start freelancing?

3) What other advice could you give me?

1. Yes, it is.
2. If you're serious about becoming a developer then you should seriously consider studying computer science. You'll be more versatile and valuable if you can do other things than just web development which bodes well for future employment.
3. Other advice in what regard?
