How do games choose what version they are in? Like minecraft was in 1.7.5 and then lets say it goes up to 1.8.5 how do they choose that? Why not version 1.8 how did they choose that number?
I've tried to get a minecraft resource pack and Downloaded the file (it was.zip) and it gave me a bunch of folders of the resource pack. Then I dragged all the files and placed them in my resource packs folder. Then I opened my minecraft and I checked my resource packs and all it has is default. What am I doing wrong?
So I'm buying a new laptop soon, and I'm aiming from microcenter because those are the best prices I can find. Here's what I'm looking for:
It has to put up with gaming. I5, or i7 preferably, 8g or more of RAM, not sure what video card to ger but I've been recommended NVIDEA 780, and if I could get a touch screen I'd like it but it's not a deal breaker.
Now, the games I'm looking to play are like Skyrim, Minecraft, Portal, etc etc general tough gaming, not much online gaming but nothing major like battlefield. I want to play without restricting quality. As an artist the tough screen would be great but I can live without it. These are the laptops that I've found that are sort of what I'm looking for. If you think one of these is the best choice, or if you can recommend one to me, that'd be cool. My budget is probably max 1300 and it really needs to be a laptop this time.

So I recently re-installed my OS due to a weird corruption it had… Anyways, but ever since that Minecraft has been acting very weird, basically I'll play the game lagless for about 10-15 minutes then suddenly the FPS drops from like 60 to 0… And it won't stop, and it only gets worse and worse and worse! Sometimes restarting Minecraft helps, sometimes it doesn't. And I don't understand what the problem is. Here's my specs:
CPU: Intel i5 2500K
GPU: Nvidia GTX 560 TI
RAM: 8GB G.skill 1333Mhz
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-BIT
I have Java 64-BIT installed, I've tried allocating more RAM to the game but it doesn't help. Looking at the performance tab in Task manager, my CPU/RAM doesn't go up during the time this happens so I don't think they're the cause, I don't know what's wrong. Can anyone help? This is annoying… I've tried doing some googling but nothings working!
I wanted to play minecraft on my 3DS so I searched it up and found DScraft. I thought this looks cool and I went in and tried to install it. It turns out nobody Knows how to install it on an SD card. If you have the answer I would appreciate if you would answer.

Ok, here's my problem: I downloaded this survival map for minecraft. I need to change this map to creative. The problem is, though, that whenever I try doing /gamemode 1, I get a message that says I don't have permission to use this command. Is there any way around this? All helpful answers will be highly appreciated.
I love Sandbox games, so GTA came to my mind. My parents said no, because of killing cops and sexual content. I already play Minecraft, but I'm looking for a sandbox game that doesn't have a lot of sexual content, and if it does, no graphic nudity, or it should be avoided easily. Any thoughts? I heard Assassin's Creed 2 is a great one. What do you think?
Added (1). I'm looking for a game that takes place in the city like GTA, or something like Red Dead Redemption. I can't play RDR, but since it is Western, I should be able to get it next year. I can play any games, no matter the rating (E-M) just no GTA.

Minecraft is the only game to ever give me motion sickness. I play tons of first person shooters but they have never given me a problem. I only ever feel nauseated when I play minecraft.
