Some of my programs are no longer in my start menu. Could this a virus?

Obvious programs where missing, such as Firefox. But I could still search the computer files and found it in its own folder. But then programs I didn't use often are missing are missing and I can't remember what they are, but I know they are gone because I used to have to scroll down in the menu to open a favorite program.
I've ran two different scans in Avast and nothing come up wrong.

The one thing that I did differently then usual was try to download a Minecraft texture pack that didn't work in Chrome, so I downloaded it in IE. Around that time Avast said it caught a virus, but I was to absent minded at the time to pay mind to it. This is the link http://www.planetminecraft.com/...naissance/

Please help! I'm really worried, if can help I would be so grateful.
I'm restarting my computer now to see things get worse/better. This will be fun.

What is the best Gaming Computer that is under $900?

I'm looking to buy a gaming computer that can hold games such as Minecraft, Battlefield games, Call of Duty games, GMOD, etc while recording. So basically a computer that can run those games as I mentioned at high settings while recording? Under $900.

Best recording software and possibly performance tips?

I want a good recording software for gameplay so I can record CSS/CS: GO and Minecraft on 100+ FPS, and if you have any idea on how I can improve my performance on my computer, graphic cards, AMD catalyst Control Center and windows settings in overall.

Specs:

Processor: AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon HD Graphics 2.70 GHZ

RAM: 8 GB

64 Bit

Windows 8

Laptop (I know. Not good)

Also I have a cooling pad and I've cleaned my computer fans and such but my computer still gets hot, any idea on how to also fix that would be So much appreciated

IMac/Minecraft Frames per Second

I have an iMac, which I adore and I play Minecraft. When I first got the iMac, the frames per second was amazing on Minecraft. I was getting maximum FPS, like 120, with the optimal graphics settings; however, now, I have noticed a decline in the FPS, and averaging around 35-50. This is playable but not perfect. I was wondering why my frames per second has dropped so much. I have had the max maybe over 1 and a half years, but I don't download excessive programs.

Is there anything I can do to restore its former glory?

I recently just bought minecraft and started playing it yesterday. I found a group of horses and youtubed how to ride them but all the youtube videos were dedicated to PCs and not macs. How do I ride a horse on my mac?
