Post-Apocalpytic Video games with world creation?

Looking for a post-apocalypse sandbox type game. Something similar to Minecraft but looks and plays more like Fallout. I want to be able to build my own bases, upgrade buildings for safe houses, that sort of thing. Anything out there?

I like art and want to get into digital art, I'm mostly a console gamer but I also like to play low spec computer games such as Combat arms, runescape, WoW, minecraft etc. I just graduated highschool and I'm not attending any colleges right now, so I don't need anything academically. What is so good about minecraft? I hear about it all the time?

So I hear minecraft is a amazing game. So amazing I heard of there being a few minecraft addiction cases… So my question is what's so good about it? I'm not saying its a bad game or anything I just wanna know why so many people love this game. And what's the object, and can you go online for it? And what do you do online?
