What is so good about minecraft? I hear about it all the time?

So I hear minecraft is a amazing game. So amazing I heard of there being a few minecraft addiction cases… So my question is what's so good about it? I'm not saying its a bad game or anything I just wanna know why so many people love this game. And what's the object, and can you go online for it? And what do you do online? And if you recommend it.

Well, to get it you go to www.minecraft.net then hit "Get Minecraft", you have to make a Mojang account before you can do anything, so once you've done that you can then enter your payment information and own a license to the game. After that you either automatically download it or have to go back to www.minecraft.net and click "Download it here" under the "Get Minecraft" button. You click "Minecraft.exe" under where it says "Minecraft for -your OS here-" and you download it. After that you just open the program, enter the details of the account you made before, hit play, and let it load.

The game itself has three overall variations. You have survival, where you spawn in a randomly generated world and have to survive, finding food, killing monsters (If you have the difficulty on Easy or above), and making tools to mine, cut down trees, and survive. The world itself consists of thousands of blocks, all of them representing something; Grass, stone, various ore, trees, water, ect, and all of them are destroyable (a part from bedrock), and then you can make stuff with these blocks using a crafting table. Here's some more info on that part: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/...m/Survival

You then have creative, it's basically survival, but you can break any block instantly, fly, don't lose health, don't need food, mobs don't hurt you, and can place ANY block in the game infinitely, allowing you to create structures, buildings, and landscapes.

Then there's servers: In servers you can have minigames, like Factions, Snake, 'The Walls', MineZ, ect, and there are also Survival and Creative servers. So you can go online and play with other people, but you do need an internet connection for that. If you've played at least ONCE, then you can play it without the internet.

I definitely recommend it if you like simple, open world, sandbox and creativity based games. There are TONS of mods (Google that) that you can use, which make the game even more fun.

I would recommend googling any questions you have, because the game itself is indepth in some areas and it's just quicker overall to google the recipes for things and find out what to do.

I recommend it. Heres a breakdown

Minecraft is a sandbox game. There's no objective, although some would disagree (i'll explain later)
You spawn in a "seemingly" endless world, there's a border, but it would take about 34 real life days of just going in one direction to reach it. The goal is to live, but you have infinite respawning. You can build a house, build a farm, go mining, do whatever. IF you want to build a castle to live in, you can, or you can just live in a hole you dig, or some box you quickly built. Most people try to work their way to getting diamonds (the rarest ore [thats useful])and just to live. Its difficult to explain because there's no goal, its like the sims. Just live and do what you want to do.

now, some like to say there's and end to the game because there are 2 boss mobs that have been introduced. Both very difficult to kill, but neither of them "end the game" as in after one of them, it rolls credits, but you can continue to play for ever and ever and ever.

You can go online, and there's anything you could imagine online, all different types of servers, from survival to creative to gamemode servers to servers that the only thing they have to do with minecraft is that its a minecraft server, nothing like actuall gameplay.

you can watch this video of surviving your first night, it will give you a little feel for how the game works

this is a great game, i love it, i play it all the time. Its constantly updated and those updates include a lot of fun great things for free if you own the game. If your not sure if you'd like the game, you can play a demo at their site minecraft.net there's a "play the demo" button over on the right side of the screen. You will need to register for an account but it will cost absolutly nothing and i think it doesn't require a credit card number either. To see what minecrat is like you can watch lets plays on youtube. This game is fun and i've wasted countless hours on it, i definently recommend it.
