I downloaded a texturepack (none of the other texture packs did anything to my game) and suddenly minecraft crashes without even loading the main menu

If Microsoft buys Mojang, will Minecraft run on the Surface?

I own a Surface RT and my mom owns a Surface 2. I heard that Microsoft is going to purchase Mojang in late 2014-early 2015. If this is true, will the Surface run Minecraft either on the Microsoft store or available for download off the internet? I don't mean a copy of Minecraft; I mean the actual one that costs money.

Getting constant lag in minecraft that started recently, why - 1 Added (1). I have 4 gb of ram, windows 8.1, and my settings aren't super high, and i'm using 3 gb of ram on this profile, i'v been getting lag since a few days ago and i don't know how to fix it, i'v uninstalled and re-installed java, i have a intel core i5 processor, please help this is my fav game and i can't play with so much lag, also, when i was playing in a modded world with optifine, when i clicked f3 to show the fps and stuff, i got a tall green bar that started in the left and slowly move over a bit Added (2). The green bar was top to bottom of the screen, can someone tell me what that means, and it would reach a point on the screen, and then that bit of green would become a darker green then it would start all over again, and i was lagging at 2 fps on tiny rendering and fast graphics and no smooth lighting, please help

What's there to do in minecraft?

Seriously i don't know what to do in it. I make a little farm with wheat crops and get a breed a bunch of cows. Then after i've done that, i'm bored. I usually start over and repeat the whole process, because starting out is probably the hardest part of the game with no shelter or resources…

the last time i played i did the same thing but this time on top of a mountain coz i thought it'd be more challenging. Which it was, because i died like 10 times trying to build a shelter and a small farm. I'm thinkin about making it into a mansion, but after that i don't know.

what is there to do? I honestly thought i wouldn't like it but it's grown on me.

Youtube channel name for a Let's Play/Gaming channel?

Hi, my name is Lexi and I've been considering making a LP channel for many years and I think now is a good time to do so! However, I'm having trouble coming up with the name. I'll be posting a wide variety of games, stuff like Dark Souls, The Elder Scrolls, World of Warcraft, GTA, Minecraft, Destiny, Assassins Creed, Final Fantasy and even stuff like Pokemon. Basically I'll be posting all types of games and play throughs for new releases like Assassin's Creed Unity, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Warlords of Draenor, Shadow of Mordor, etc. I'd really need some help in creating the name so any suggestions are appreciated. How to fix the freezing issue with Minecraft 1.8?

Since the update to 1.8 my screen freezes with every few steps my little guy takes.
Anywhere from 1 second to around 10 seconds. Very annoying!

Here is what I have
12 GB ram
AMD Radeon HS 6450
AMD Athlon II X3 440

What can I do?
