What's fun about minecraft?

A ton of people my age (18) have been getting back into Minecraft. And I used to love it, I was obsessed years ago, but now I try and play and I just feel uninspired to make anything awesome (I like survival not creative). Sometimes I come across a village and I want to say there, but then I think what's the point? Everything I need to survive is here. How can I make the game more enjoyable to play in survival single player?

Minecraft for free with HP laptop?

I bought a HP Envy 360 laptop. It came installed with Minecraft and I was wondering if there was any way I could play it without paying the like $26 for it. Considering I just spent almost $1100 for the laptop and Microsoft office stuff I think it should be included? I would like to play but I also don't want to really download it from a sketchy website plus it came installed already.
