Paint.net or Gimp? Which one should I choose?!
Added (1). So I'm trying to make a Minecraft mod but I don't know which painting software I should use. I don't know If I should use Gimp or Paint.net. I like paint.net but I don't really so sure which one to choose from.
I've been playing around with shaders today to make my game look wonderful.
I've also come across some cool mods, so I wanted to add those into my game as well…
I may be doing something wrong, but it seems I can only pick one or the other; either plain looking Minecraft with mods or a pretty looking Minecraft with no mods.
I've searched online and see it is possible, but I can't seem to find steps.
For example, I'm using Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders and the Hit Splat Damage Indicator mod.

Added (1). I have the mod in the mod folder and the shaders in the shader folder, just incase someone asks if I have them in their respective folders.
I have been playing Minecraft a while (on my Macbook air 11 inch) and recently it has gotten SUPER hot and crashes a lot. I thought it was because my start up disk was almost full but I cleared that ages ago. I also have cleared All my mods and use the latest version of Minecraft. Also I quit every application before I play AND I raise my computer but NOTHING works!
Summing up my issue: I run a private Forge server, installed mods, the modded items appear in the creative inventory when searched BUT whenever I attempt to place down any modded item they immediately disappear. So, how exactly do I prevent it from disappearing? The server runs fine, the mods appear as installed, they just won't let me place them.
Forge was crashing with the McDonalds mod. Tried to change my skin, went to play in Forge again, it would load Forge without my new skin, and the it would crash. Got rid of the McDonalds mod, Forge still crashed after that, I loaded the world in regular Minecraft and it worked fine. When I loaded into Forge, then everything worked normally again.
Just wondered why it kept crashing, cause I'm not finding any logs that state why it crashed.

Does it even exist yet? I've already downloaded Forge and have the profile and all that, but I've spent hours googling and trying different downloads that have lead me nowhere. I'm under the impression that both of these mods are practically the same, so it doesn't matter which one it is, if there even is one existing that's mac compatible. Also, do I need to download this thing called ChickenCore or something like that? I'm entirely new to modding, so sorry if I sound like an idiot here… But help me.
So, I have primarily been a console kinda guy for pretty much my whole life. I've come to terms with the fact that PC gaming is superior in most if not all aspects. I don't want a gaming computer that looks like something off of terminator, I just need something that can play games without getting the infamous blue screen of death. I'm a 16 year old guy in high school and summer's coming up. I'm planning on getting a job at a restaurant or shop at the strip mall across the street from my neighborhood. In addition to that, if I follow through with this, then I will most likely sell my PS3 and the games for it. Assuming all goes well with that, I can probably get around 400-450 for the console and all the accessories/games. Like I said, I don't need a supercomputer. Probably the only games I will play on there will be Minecraft, Team Fortress 2, and Skyrim. I'm planning on getting mods for both Minecraft and Skyrim for sure so it will need to be able to support those. I would like the price to be low, as far as gaming computers go anyways. I'm new to the whole PC market thing so ignore the budget part for the time being. This is not an immediate thing. I just want a general idea of what is available. It doesn't even have to be a gaming computer. Just something strong enough to support those 3 games.
I Really want to download some mods but i don't have mod loader or forge. If someone could help me out, that would be great. Also, how do you download/install mods to minecraft 1.8? Some i really want include Rei's Minimap and the Timber mods.
