Long plane trips are really good for single player gaming (like minecraft). My high school Model UN club is going to the US east coast (a very long flight) but its impossible to tell if our plane will have in-seat power or not. What is the best way to conserve battery power while playing minecraft?

The best way to conserve power would be to standby mode or minimal activity. But you want to be playing Minecraft so that makes it difficult.
If you don't need Wi-Fi on, turn it off, turn off any other connectivity that isn't necessary.
Lower the screen brightness to the minimum, as backlighting uses heaps of power.
Also, try having a break a few times, putting your device in standby or shutting down.
Other things you could try are lowering graphics settings and under clocking the CPU, but your OS should do that automatically when running on battery.
