Why is Minecraft so addicting?

For the longest time, I was always that sour apple of the group that would express my disinterest towards Minecraft. I'm not usually the type to sit around for a long time playing a game, but this week I went out and actually bought the game to see what the hype was about. Normally, I play 3rd person action games or 1st person shooters, but this game… THIS GAME. It's something else. What did they put into it to make it so addicting. This is dangerous.
