Why does my minecraft fps max out at 60?

My minecraft only seems to run minecraft at 60 fps, it runs constantly at 60 however i was wondering if there are any ways to increase the fps or any reasoning behind my computers in ability to run minecraft above 60 fps,
I have tried turning off all settings that could lower the fps but that doesn't seem to work, i have 8Gb of RAM and a 2Gb Nvidia graphics card

Turn off vsync in the minecraft settings.

Umm I don't know about troll. But if you disable vertical sync( i don't know if minecraft has that option), it could make your fps BETTER. I don't know why you would want your fps to be worse… Higher fps is good. Lower fps is bad.

Turn off Vertical Sync in the options.

60fps is pretty good, and Minecraft is pretty graphically intensive for the pixel game that it is. You stated you had a 2GB Nvidia card though, so I think you can do a bit better. Things to check:

1) Do you have 64bit OS installed?
2) Do you have the latest graphics card drivers?
3) Do you have any other processes in the background running?
4) Tweak in game options to see if they yield results. The fastest settings on MC are:
a) graphics: fast
b) render distance: tiny
c) Performance: Max FPS
d) Clouds: Off
e) Lighting: off
f) bobbing: off
g) vsync: off
5) Are you running any mods? They can bring down FPS
6) Make sure your PC is USING your graphics card, and that the PC is also utilizing all the memory by checking the settings.

God speed

What fps are you looking for? Unless your trying to record than 60fps is enough for you.

Get optifine its a mod that one guys laptop went from 60 fps To 300 fps

my lzptop only went from 5fps to 15 fps.
