So I play pvp servers and I want to record 120 fps but I go down to 90 fps and at 90 fps it looks like crap and it's choppy and unplayable but on my laptop that I used to have 60 or 50 fps was smooth. What is going on?
Why does my monitor make 60 fps on minecraft look like 20 fps and it is all choppy?

Without a clue as to what is sending images to your monitor (some kind of computer, I bet), there's no way to make an accurate guess.

That is called screen tearing. It is when your fps are significantly higher from the refresh rate of your monitor. To be able to play at 120 fps, you need a monitor with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The only way you can stop this is limit your fps to 60 because your monitor is more than likely a 60Hz monitor.
