Hi. I bought Minecraft for PS 3 a couple of years ago. At first I loved it, but I expected more. I though night would fall suddenly, that monsters would try to get inside your house and you would need to build secret passages and traps and things like that. But I was wrong and eventually it came to this: at daytime I quickly and routinely and boringly gather resources; at night I just stand in a hideout waiting for the night to end. As I spend the night in the house, I don't meet monsters at all; and when I build houses I can't really do much there. It's not Sims where you can watch TV or open a refrigerator. And it all became boring and meaningless. Now I consider buying a version for PS 4 and I wonder - do I miss something? Does the game change somehow with the time? Or do new more powerful monsters appear? If it was all about routinely chopping trees at daytime and standing in a hideout at night people wouldn't play it, would they? I mean, what's the point of it? People that like the game, how do they play, what do they do?
What's the point of Minecraft and should I play it?
If you didn't like it then you are not going to like it now
Oh you mean you don't know about The Nether and the Ender Dragon?
The Nether is basically Minecraft hell. Lava, fire, red Netherrack, Soul sand, blazes, pigmen, Ghasts. You need to go there to get items to find the stronghold underground (in the overworld). In the stronghold you have to fight monsters to find The End portal. There you put Eyes of Ender into the slots, and you're on your way to beating Minecraft.
After you defeat that, you can also go back to the Nether and get soul sand and incredibly rare dropped Wither skulls to make a Wither Boss, which isn't harder than the Ender Dragon, but it isn't easy either.
People who make videos on minecraft usually are doing a minigame they created, or they're building something amazing. Or.They're just playing the game! Did you have the difficulty on Easy, Normal or Hard? If you had it on Peaceful, no monsters will ever even spawn in game. If you're looking for a real challenge, try Hardcore mode. In Hardcore mode, you're locked on the hardest difficulty, and if you die, it deletes the world, so you can't get back into it. Try getting to the Ender Dragon on THAT! I've never done it, and I've had Minecraft for…5 years now. You could also build infinitely on Creative, but it seems that's not your thing. In Creative you can't die, and you can fly. You have all the blocks in the game, infinite of all of the blocks. Minecraft is a great game, you should definitely consider getting it. Try to watch people like SkyDoesMinecraft, BajanCanadian, Popular MMOs, or SethBling to get an idea of what you can do in Minecraft.
