Should I get an iMac/MacBook?

I'm probably going to get a job this summer and I would make about $1,000.

Currently I don't have a computer of my own and the family computer is a 2006 iMac and it's painfully slow and like 100% full.

So anyway, I want a computer (Mac) of my own. Mostly for web browsing, movies, videos, games like Portal and Minecraft.

But I do have an iPod touch 5 that CAN do all of those things (besides gaming) but web browsing isn't the greatest on a 3.5 in screen.

Bun I'm afraid that if I buy a mac that I won't ever use it OR I won't ever use my iPod that I just spent $300 on.

Is it worth it?

Maybe go for a cheaper Mac like MacBook Air? It's definitely better option for movies, videos and light gaming than an iPod touch. And if you stop using your iPod, you can always sell it and get most of the money back.
