Problems with the making of my Hamachi server?

So I was trying to make a Hamachi minecraft server for a few of my friends (private server). I downloaded Hamachi, made a network, put it up online, downloaded the minecraft server 1.7.9 file on minecraft.net but when I run the file, the console doesn't open up and the only folder I got was the logs folder? I tried redownloading it (several times) but it still won't work, I also rebooted my laptop but it still won't work. Can you please tell me what I did wrong? I was following the steps of a Hamachi tutuorial and everyone in the comments said it worked for them!
