How to restart my minecraft server?

I downloaded the game from one of my friends flash drive. The version is 1.6.2 and i need to update to version 1.7.2. How do i update?

Here is a quick tutorial on how to update your Minecraft Server:

If you're planning to upgrade your Client then do this, start your Minecraft and look for Edit Profiles at the bottom left corner of the Minecraft Screen. Click on it and you should see a drop down menu with bunch of Minecraft options, Select release 1.7.2 and hit Save Profile and then click on Play.
