How to get more people to join my new minecraft server?

I have started a new minecraft server and not many people are joining. How can i increase the popularity of the server?

Advertise with true words, don't advertise too much but make sure to cover things that people might like. On the server, make sure to be nice! It's a fundamental rule which brings players in. Secondly, be just in your actions. Always be fair in warning players or rewarding them. It will give off a good impression, making people want to come back and even possible inviting their friends.
