Problems with Display Driver?

I'm a huge fan of Minecraft, and I really got into some of the modpacks. There was an error in my hard drive that prevented me from doing anything, so i sent it to get a new one. When I got it back, I had some problems. Whenever I played a modpacks for 5 - 10 minutes, the screen would go black, come back up and say "Display Driver has failed and reopened", or something like that. I can't find a solution that works, because I'm always missing something for some reason. I'm using Windows 7, please help me!

The problem isn't your hard drive. There could be many reasons that triggered the error you get. However, I believe you need to update your graphics/video display driver. Make sure you match the driver update to your PC video card.

Since you are running Windows 7, you can check windows update first. Scan for new updates, and once the check finishes go to the "Optional Updates" tab. See if you can find an update with the name of your video card manufacturer.

Next, I'm not sure how "updated" you are in terms of hardware configuration, but windows 7 installs "generic" drivers after a clean install. If your hardware isn't current( anywhere between 2010-2014), then you might be using generic drivers and need to install drivers that match Windows vista as that is the closest 'old' OS system using the same architecture of windows 7. If you don't find a driver update using Windows Update, you need to look for it in the manufacturer official website. You can Google it because it's faster to find data through search engines.

Lastly, if you custom built your PC, you will have to check for hardware and software compatibility issues. Remember when was your most stable configuration, and think about the software and hardware you installed thereafter. You probably installed something that disrupted the harmony of your PC configuration without thinking it was going to create problems in the short or long run.

Hope it helps
