Minecraft Multiplayer problem (Or confusion)?

Me and my brother just bought minecraft. We both own Playstation Products (Him owning a ps4, me owning a ps vita 1000 module)

Now we don't know how to play minecraft. We both have our own PSN accounts, and we're both in the same household.

What is the problem/How can we play?

Minecraft isn't cross-play between PS4 and Vita, you both have to be on the same platform to play together
