Can't install rei's minimap?

I've tried every version of rei's minimap with minecraft and it won't work, I've heard you just move the zip into the mods folder (I have forge) and it should show up but it won't come up in minecraft at all.

What version of minecraft are you running? Currently Rei's Minimap mod is only up to 1.7.2 and even that isn't working properly.

I highly recommend Voxelmap (Zan's Minimap) as it is up to date, and is a hell of a lot better.
