I lag on minecraft really badly?

And this is not FPS lag since so many stupid people call lag the thing that gets you low fps, LAG IS YOUR LATENCY/PING FOR **** SAKE. It only happens on minecraft and not on any other games, people freeze for like 10 seconds and then catch up its so annoying!
