I have a dell precision m6500 that was upgreaded from windows 7 and now on windows 8.1, and i can't get minecraft working. I've tried updating my graphics drivers, but it says they are up to date. Can you help?
How to get minecraft working on windows 8.1? - 1
Let me guess, you tried updating the driver via Device Manager? Yeah, that's not going to work. I don't know why people keep suggesting it.
Windows 8.1 probably installed a generic driver for your graphics hardware. It's good enough to get a picture on the screen but doesn't have OpenGL support which is required for playing Minecraft.
Visit the PC manufacturer's web site and enter your model number into a search on their tech support page. Install the Windows 8.1 graphics driver. If there's no 8.1 driver then put the model if your PC into a web search to find the specs of the computer. The graphics/video card manufacturer and model number should be listed in the specs.
Visit the graphics manufacturer's web site and download the Windows 8.1 driver for that model.
Check if java is installed.
Thank you dominic, but windows 8.1 was never meant for my laptop, i upgreded from windows seven as it is a few years old. Does this mean that i can't get the w8.1 drivers?
