A specific example of this is Ultima Online. You can choose a plot of land and other players can walk by it. Not looking for a game like Minecraft, but sort building houses on there. The Sims is not an example.

There's a game called "Rust". Its its in Alpha stage but so far its pretty good. Its like a survival game where you try to salvage resources and build a place to help you survive the night and from enemies. Its first person view and unlike minecraft (where you can destroy land), resources is hard to get like DayZ and Nether but once you collected wood from trees, you can build a foundation, shed, and your own home on any piece of land.
