Here's what we know so far. There was this big apocalypse and you (Steve) are the last Human alive. Herobrine fits into it somehow. There are abandoned mines. And the Strongholds are some kind of research lab where someone was trying to enter the End but was to late. That's it. Do any of you have a hypothesis? Just make something up. It has to be believable

So Steve was a jack of all trades before the apocalypse. Some scientist decided to try and access alternate dimensions ( nether and end) he started chain reaction that created a breakdown of his partners immune system as he traveled back and forth between the nether and the earth his body developed the zombie virus from coming in contact with the zombie pigmen and started the zombie apocalypse the first scientist(herobrine) slowly went insane from the sound of nether portal experimenting on skeletons and injecting serum after serum into them until they moved he dropped a serum when the skeleton sat up. The serum stored into a crack on the floor and dripped onto a spider which made it grow to massive proportions. He then injected himself with an experimental serum that made him the herobrine we know today.
Steve is the only one to survive because he was of on s camping trip at the time. When he got back he had to run and learn quickly how to make wepons which is how he can make swords
