The purpose of this laptop is for school work and games like Minecraft and BF3. Also a little bit of video rendering. Which one is better, based on bank for buck, portibility, and gaming.

You'll get much better speed with the Macbook because it uses a solid state drive (which makes an enormous difference for just about everything. If you're doing actual video editing or rendering either of them would do an equal job. That being said you have about half the amount of space with the Macbook. If you like Windows, try and get the hard drive swapped on the Dell with a solid state drive for better performance.
