That computer is getting a little old (Sorry to be the bearer of bad news). That computers CPU is 1 core, with a clock speed of 2.2 Ghz, 1 Mb of L2 Cache. Mid range PC's today are coming with CPU's with 4 cores, clock speeds of 3.5+ Ghz, and 6+ Mb of L2 Cache. When people build programs they build them to utilize current generation of hardware. Making older hardware outdated quickly. That CPU was released in 2009. 5 Years of life is VERY good for any PC component. I think its time to retire the equipment knowing that you got your moneys worth.
390$ Asus - 15.6" Laptop - AMD A4-Series - 4 GB Memory - 500 GB Hard Drive - Gray Black
- Things like Minecraft, Starcraft, LoL should run on mid settings.
That Laptop has an AMD A4 5000 which has, 4 Cores running at 1.5 Ghz (Much better then 1 at 2.2 Ghz) and 2 Mb L2 Cache. It also has a dedicated GPU (AMD Radeon HD 8330 graphics) which means your CPU doesn't have to process data and convert it to graphics, you have in essence 2 processors!
However, if an upgrade is ABSOLUTELY out of the question there are a few things that might help, a little.
1. Defragment, click my computer, right click local disk c, properties, tools, optimize, the optimize again.
2. Ctl, Alt, Del and shut off any processes from apps you're not using.
3. ONLY, I REPEAT ONLY, try this if you know what you're doing. Windows key + R, type msconfig, click services, scross down the list, look for things like ASK Toolbar, or AVG Toolbar, nothing from microsoft (
Windows media player network sharing service you can close). Uncheck anything you don't need, IF YOU KNOW WHAT IT DOES, turning off the wrong things could stop your computer from working, GOOGLE EVERY SERVICE you are unsure of. Over the years your computer gets loaded with junk that runs in the background unbeknownst to you, this is just shutting them off.
