How to get splitscrean on minecraft?

It is spelled with two "E's" like this: Split screen.

First, make sure you have a second controller.

Then, you go to options, go to controls and select 2 and then go back and make sure the user interface is selected with 2 players and split screen and what not, you should know what to do when you see it.

Then, you'll have to turn on the other controller, make sure you can use it, and then press start and log in with an account.

I did some extra stuff but I'm unsure if those extra stuff were needed.

Play a world then press the start button(the one by the xbox button) on the second controller when it tells you.
