Do I not like video games anymore?

So I love games like skyrim, minecraft, terraria, etc. But I'm all happy to play the game then once I get on I'm instantly bored. I haven't touched a video game longer than ten minutes for about half a year to a year. Is it me or the game(s)? It's weird because I love say skyrim, "oh let's go get new armor, yay!" I turn on the XBOX and log in and open the game and then…

…"Ugh this is boring".

It's weird how I can like the game but don't want to play it. Any help on getting back into it? I used to play minecraft and skyrim 'til midnight and now nothing.

I find myself with the same problem. Exactly, word for word. Put in Skyrim… Bored. Load a fresh Minecraft world… Bored. I blame game devs. There's little to no originality out there these days. Everything is CoD clones, sports games, and sandboxes that never deliver. I get hyped for a game, and hate it a week after it comes out. Maybe we're getting old? I'll be 29 this year.

On the plus side, I find myself with more time to do other hobbies I don't have. I'm putting a lot of stock into all the indie games coming out this year on XBox One. Maybe something there will spark my interest.

My recommendation is to build a gaming PC. I recall that when I had a power house gaming rig I would still get bored of my XBox, but I could switch to my PC and play weird stuff for a couple days, after which the CoD itch would be overpowering. Sadly my beloved PC was assassinated by my demon children and several popsicles. I'd take my own advice and build another, but I'm saving up to buy a house.

It happens. Try playing other games. Only playing the same types of games and not trying anything new is the main reason people get burned out on games.

You need to have a different game something that you never experienced before and that should get you ***puts on sunglasses** back in the game YEAH…

I used to enjoy video games, then I took an arrow to the knee

Boredom is usually because a person has too many things to do and can't really make up ones mind as to which to do.
OR, the Player is unable to achieve the instant gratification demanded by his/her ego, which means the Player can't grasp the skills necessary to play the game.

If you have not played the GTA: San Andreas game give it a go.
Simple game play with difficult skills need to do flying as an example. No stress at the start, until you desire to immerse yourself in the actual game play. A free roam map with penalties if you venture too far. Silly inane missions that can be interesting.
Game implies you must use weapons, vehicles, and approaches to missions, yet in some you can vary the attack. You can play it by rote being brain dead, or think about what is needed.
