Honestly, I have no idea. It sounds similar to the whole "girls don't like video games" nonsense I've heard from a lot of people. News flash: Lots of women like video games, including Minecraft! And I happen to be one of them.
And anyway, who says a girl can't be a geek, too? Personally, I gladly call myself a bit of a geek.

Why do people say things like that? Well, for starters, if it's a girl telling you this, then there's a good chance it's just to mess with you. Girls love screwing with the heads of boys. They're kind of nuts that way. (Not an absolution, just a generalization.) Or, they say that simply because they personally don't think much of the game.
