I go on the home screen, i press play, a black mojang logo appears and then sends me right back to the home screen. Do I need a new graphics card or something? If so are they expensive? If not, what is my problem.

Maybe you have to go back an update play for a min then try and play 1.7.4. And it might work

I have this problem every time. If its like mine, it will load fully then return to the main menu. When it does this just wait for a bit and, depending on your computer's graphics card, it will go back to the gameplay over time. Whilst it has returned to the menu, don't click on any buttons. It can take a few minutes. If it doesn't work after 5 minutes then your graphics card may not be good enough.
You can't replace them on laptops but you can on Tower and monitor computers (the one with the big box and the separate screen)
Warning! If you don't have a good graphics card, it can completely break your computer, I had this with my laptop. It was quite old though.
